Your tax-deductible gift will change lives.

Nobody ever told me any more than I needed to know. They said, “you stay positive, we’ll do the rest”. I am forever grateful to the cancer researchers who worked tirelessly to do “the rest” - Kate

Kate is unfortunately no stranger to hearing those three words, “you have cancer”, and was diagnosed in November 2021 with stage four metastatic melanoma.

Sadly, her husband had passed away from the same cancer exactly 20 years ago. “One of the worst parts was my husband passed away on my birthday, so I am reminded every year of his passing and the challenges he faced in those final months”.

The medical advancements that have occurred over the past 20 years have been incredible, and they saved Kate’s life.

Thanks to our generous donors, Kate has participated in Cancer Council WA’s Life Now courses, both during treatment and life after cancer. Our Life Now program implements expert advice from professionals in the field and cancer researchers, such as Professor Daniel Galvão.

Professor Galvão started working in aging clinical exercise science, and realised how prevalent cancer was in ageing populations. He wondered how he could help these people through exercise. Professor Galvão was curious about fixing issues resulting from cancer treatment therapies, such as chemotherapy, and how people could better tolerate these life-saving treatments.

As a community-funded organisation, we rely on vital donations to continue the ground-breaking research happening here in WA.

Professor Galvão’s research shows how local investment in cancer research can result in real outcomes for West Australians impacted by a cancer diagnosis.

Please donate before June 30 and your gift will keep hope alive for West Australians and their families diagnosed with cancer, by allowing cancer researchers to target cancer from every angle.
