“I know there’s a lot of people that will need help, people that don’t have families to rely on. That’s not available to everyone."
- Luke Myers
For Luke Myers, his stage two melanoma diagnosis came after finding tiny spots of blood on his pillowcase when he was just 21.
“It hit me pretty hard. I just sat there, not really recognising what was going on, and I didn’t understand what would happen,” Luke shares.
While Luke continued to work as much as he could after his diagnosis, once he went in for surgery to treat his melanoma, he lost his ability to work, and was eventually let go by his employer.

“My story is pretty uncommon, but it’s not something that’s unrealistic. If I had known about Cancer Council WA’s services, I definitely would have accessed them,” Luke says.
